The participants of the project “Education for Sustainable Development: Transferring the Experience of the Visegrad Countries for the Recovery of Ukraine” met online on December 21, 2023, to discuss the topic “Water Management in the Carpathian Region”.
About 30 participants took part in the online seminar. The expert of the seminar was Ivan Matushek. Ivan spoke about the water cycle, evaporation and transpiration, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural areas. He also presented examples of water retention measures such as rain gardens and permeable surfaces that can help reduce runoff and improve infiltration. The workshop also discussed the need to educate people about these measures, and presented catalogs and books created to spread awareness. The discussion also included a comparison of the approaches of countries that prioritize nature conservation and those that do not.
The participants listened to the presentation and then moved on to discuss the topic and interactively. During the meeting, various topics related to water management and its impact on the environment were discussed.
In general, the meeting emphasized the importance of local action in the fight against climate change and improving the quality of life.
