The National Ecological Centre of Ukraine, in partnership with organizations from Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary, is launching an international project:
“Shifting towards Ecotourism in Protected Areas through Heritage Interpretation”
This project, supported by the Visegrad Fund, aims to foster sustainable tourism, raise environmental awareness, and enhance the management of protected natural areas. A key focus is introducing European approaches to heritage interpretation—a powerful tool for both tourism and education.
The first step of this initiative is an educational tour through the breathtaking protected landscapes of the Ukrainian Carpathians, scheduled for March 20–26, 2025.
What Awaits the Participants?
- Exploring Ukraine’s natural treasures: visits to the Hutsulshchyna, Vyzhnytskyi, Verkhovynskyi, and Carpathian National Parks.
- Learning from the best: insights into cutting-edge conservation and ecotourism practices from top Ukrainian and international experts.
- Engaging workshops & discussions: interactive sessions on heritage interpretation, sustainable tourism, and environmental stewardship.
- Real-world application: analyzing the tourism potential of protected areas and exploring practical ways to promote sustainable travel.
- Networking & career opportunities: direct interaction with national park representatives, ecotourism specialists, and potential employers in the field.
- A launchpad for future initiatives: guidance and inspiration for developing personal ecotourism projects.
This tour is an exceptional opportunity for students, young professionals, and nature enthusiasts to deepen their understanding of ecotourism, conservation, and international cooperation in environmental protection. Participants won’t just gain knowledge—they’ll be encouraged to apply it, shaping the future of responsible tourism in the region.
